McAfee signs chief executive

Dave DeWalt joins the security vendor

Security vendor McAfee has appointed former EMC executive, Dave DeWalt, as its chief executive officer.

DeWalt was formerly executive vice-president of customer operations at EMC. He also most recently managed the Documentum content management business. He will take over officially on 2 April.

McAfee’s current interim president Dale Fuller will resign and serve as an advisor to DeWalt, the firm said.

Chuck Robel, non-executive chairman of McAfee, said in a statement: “Dave brings strong execution skills, a proven ability to lead top performing teams and an excellent track record in driving shareholder value to McAfee.”

Fuller stepped in after McAfee’s chief executive George Semenuk and president Kevin Weiss resigned following a stock options scandal that hit the firm back in October (CRN, 12 October).
