WEEE deal for Ingram Micro
Broadliner gets environmentally friendly
Ingram Micro has signed an agreement with Hewlett Packard (HP) to limit the impact of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive for European Ingram resellers selling HP-branded products.
Karel Everaet, vice-president legal affairs Ingram Micro Europe, said: “We have reached an agreement with HP whereby it will accept the WEEE responsibility for its products, removing complexity and additional costs for our resellers.”
Everaet told CRN that Ingram is talking to other vendors and hopes to sign similar agreements with them.
Alex Ward, commercial director at rival distributor Midwich, said: “We have been in discussions with our print vendors about how we can legally meet the WEEE directive, and also about what opportunities exist for resellers.”
