Trend seeks clean dozen

Services firm looks to grow channel

Channel services vendor Trend Network Services, will sign an additional 12 resellers to its partner programme before the end of the year.

Trend, a sub-brand of Phoenix IT Group, which bought it 18 months ago, allows VARs to resell and rebadge its services, including network services, helpdesk and field services, consultancy and disaster recovery.

Paul Sallis, director channel sales at Trend, said: “We don’t sell products. Everything we do is services and is sold entirely through the channel. We are looking to recruit more resellers to our programme, but we don’t want to go over the top.”

He added that the firm is looking to appoint no more than 50 VARs.

Ian Brooks, managing director at reseller IBBD, said some VARs would find services such as the 24-hour support desk, helpful.

But he warned: “While there will always be a need for some VARs to rebadge and resell services, it could be the thin end of the wedge, eventually squeezing VARs out altogether.”
