Revenues up but profits down at Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts has announced profits of $7.43 million for the fourth quarter ending 31 March, nearly $5 million less than the same period last year.

But revenues increased 8% to more than $117 million with turnover for the full year up nearly $40 million to nearly $52 million. European revenues were up 31%.

World wide the publisher's top selling titles for the fourth quarter were Wing Commander IV for PC and NBA Live for 96 for Playstation.

According to CEO Larry Probst EA has grown its PC business by 95% in the past 12 months. The format now acccounts for $140 million of annual turnover.

The date for EA's multi million pound interactive movie The Darkening starring Christopher Walken and John Hurt has slipped back to October.
