Computacenter acquires Allnet

Fresh from its victory over the BT desktop services contract renewal, VAR giant buys the UK integrator subsidiary of Cable & Wireless

Computacenterhas bolstered its infrastructure services offering with the acquisition of Allnet, the UK system integrator division of networking giant Cable & Wireless, for an undisclosed sum.

The VAR claimed the buy complements its existing capability in the converged IP based networks and related security and managed services. The firm, which employs 160 staff in London and Reading, will become part of Computacenter's Technology Solutions division.

With immediate effect, Allnet, which is the result of the merger of six Cable & Wireless systems integrators – Grant & Taylor, BTN, ML Integration, ML Careline and Cable & Wireless Systems Integration Ireland and Allnet - will be marketed as “Allnet by Computacenter”.

Jon Bennett, Technology Solutions director at Computacenter, said: “The acquisition of Allnet again furthers our strategy of building depth of capability in infrastructure services. We believe the addition of Allnet will give us significant synergies and new opportunities to grow our services business.”

James Steventon, managing director of Allnet, added: “Our union with Computacenter is a highly attractive proposition for our customers, giving them access to wider geographical coverage and a far broader range of services. As part of a leading end-to-end services provider, I am confident we are well placed to realise our full business potential as a technology company."
