UK distributors defy US slowdown

UK-based distributor Wick Hill said it made a profit for its financial year ended 31 March and saw its turnover increase by more than 20 per cent over last year.

UK-based distributor Wick Hill said it made a profit for its financial year ended 31 March and saw its turnover increase by more than 20 per cent over last year.

The privately owned company, which celebrated 25 years in operation last month, said it expected to post turnover of £15.5m when its results are fully audited.

The distributor's products are all in the ecommerce enabling arena and it has over 250 channel partners, including systems integrators and resellers.

Ian Kilpatrick, group managing director, said the company's success was down to an increased focus on services and support to its partners, as well as increased product accreditation.

"We launched a professional services unit in February to support the accreditation programme and provide post-sales services and pre-sales support," he said.

Wick Hill joins a number of UK channel players that have reported strong results this year, including Computacenter, Morse and EquIP, despite poor US trading conditions.
