Oracle partners get French leave to see new technologies at conference

The Oracle Developers Conference, in Paris from 10 to 12 December, will be a first chance for Oracle partners to get their hands on several new technologies.

These will include Developer/2000 v2, PowerObjects 2, Database Designer and Oracle Discoverer. Oracle says there'll be some 8,000 hours of hands-on access to the products and 140 technical briefings.

Oracle director of alliances, Stephen Kelly, told Var World: "Developers won't be lectured at, they will simply have the chance to test drive technology.

There will be a keynote address from Larry Ellison, and new products like Oracle8, Network Computing Architecture, Sedona, and Oracle's newly announced Project Apollo for electronic commerce."

There will be at least 40 product development managers from the US, and a technical Java workshop jointly hosted by Sunsoft and Oracle. ODC is aimed at the technical element within the reseller community. Kelly said: "We are expecting around 3,000 delegates, for whom this sort of information is very much a life support." Arch Microsoft rival Oracle has also announced a Windows NT sales force in response to demand for Oracle7 on NT.
