C2000 expands portfolio

Broader offerings for system builders and resellers following deals with PNY and AOpen

Computer 2000 (C2000) has expanded its offerings for system builders and resellers by signing up graphics card manufacturer PNY Technologies and components and peripherals giant AOpen.

C2000 will now distribute the entire PNY product range, including its nVidia-based Quadro and Verto graphics cards for the professional and consumer markets respectively. It will also distribute the firm's memory and Flash storage products.

Analyst ChartTrack has ranked PNY's Verto cards as the leading consumer range in the UK retail market. PNY also remains the exclusive supplier of nVidia's Quadro FX professional graphics cards in Europe and the US.

John Osborne, general manager of PC components at C2000, claimed the deal is good news for system builders.

"The fact that we can supply the complete PNY Flash, graphics and memory families has got to be great news for anyone who buys these products for resale or for system building," he said.

Vicky Burgoyne, general manager at PNY UK, said: "We want to broaden our channel across all of our product ranges: Flash and graphics.

"C2000 has a very good database of CAD partners, as well as a wide database of retailers, resellers and system builders.

"This partnership will enable us to strengthen our market share in the UK, and we have every confidence in C2000's ability to sell our entire range of products effectively to its reseller partners.

"I expect it to be a very strategic and profitable relationship for both parties."

The deal with AOpen, part of the Acer Group, will greatly expand C2000's components offering and will include motherboards, optical storage products, multimedia add-on cards and cases.

The distributor sees the deal as a key to increasing its appeal to system builders.

Osborne said: "We are building up an exceptionally good range now, and the signing of AOpen is a real leap forward for us.

"It widens choice for our customers. AOpen is highly regarded for its quality and reliability, and we can offer customers all the backup and support they need without having to charge them a premium on the products."

Dimitry van Kemenade, AOpen's sales manager for Europe, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Computer 2000 in the UK.

"It can help us to reach a much broader spectrum of the marketplace and make it easier for resellers and system builders to buy AOpen products and build them into their solutions."
