Thieves loot specialist kit from GADC

High-end connectivity distributor GADC Networks has become the latest victim of computer thefts, losing up to #500,000 of specialist kit in a raid.

Three men tricked their way into the plant using false identification papers between 4pm and 6pm on 23 November. Once inside, they bound, gagged and blindfolded the security guard before loading equipment into the back of their transit van.

The companies' desktop computers were left untouched, however, the thieves carefully selecting over 600 pieces of specialist networking equipment, which included satellite scanning equipment, much of it RAD equipment of which GADC is the sole UK distributor.

Susan Archer, HR manager at GADC, said the theft would not affect the company's ability to service its customers. She disputed estimates that it had lost #1 million of kit, maintaining that talks were still underway with insurers.

Milton Keynes police refused to discuss details but are appealing for witnesses.
