Spanish Distie Begins Euro Expansion In UK

Computer Office Group?s Spanish distributor, Checksun, has picked the UK as its first point of expansion as it looks to break out of its traditional domestic market.

Erika Chang, operations manager at the recently formed Checksun UK, is involved in collating information on the UK channel before deciding how best to target resellers.

Checksun, which has its headquarters in Barcelona, deals in more than 300 products, including Seagate and Western Digital hardware along with Intel CPU chips.

It also manufactures its own PC systems under the name Nech and assembles notebooks under the same name. Chang said the distributor wanted to keep other products under wraps until it evolved a business plan for the UK market.

?We have offices in Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore. Now we want to explore the European market and we have selected Germany and Britain as the priority because they are the largest places for the computer industry. London is the first place.?

Chang said four of the 100 employees in Spain would eventually be based in the London office, but Checksun is keen to employ local people.
