Intel targets ISVs with global ISPP scheme
Software Partner Programme 'will give partners opportunities they have never had before', Intel director claims
Intel has launched a global software partner programme, designed to help its channel partners maintain sales and develop new business.
The Intel Software Partner Programme (ISPP) is targeted at ISVs that develop commercial products and services around the Intel platform, such as its Core 2 Duo processor.
The ISPP also allows ISVs to align their product development around specific markets, such as gaming or digital media creation.
Wolfgang Petersen, director of the global developer relations division for EMEA and Software and Solutions Group at Intel, told CRN that the ISPP will have multiple benefits for ISVs, including helping partners to generate international business more easily.
“This gives partners opportunities they have never had before,” he said. “This is not binding partners to Intel though. It marks a significant increase in our partner spending.”
Partners will now be spilt across two tiers: Premium being the highest and Registered being the lowest. Partners will also be able to choose their own level of interaction in the ISPP, which Intel claimed will enable partners to meet their individual business objectives.
Les Billing, managing director of distributor Microtronica, told CRN that the creation of ISPP is a step forward for the channel.
“All efforts to help develop applications utilising the increased power availability has to stimulate the market for partners,” he said. “I’m fully behind this initiative.”
A report published by market analyst iSuppli last month revealed that the rise of Intel’s main rival AMD will slow down, following the launch of Intel’s Core Duo desktop chips in January and more recently its Core 2 Duo desktop and notebook lines (CRN, 7 September).
