CA snaps up 3Tera to help bolster its cloud computing offerings

Software vendor CA has bolstered its cloud computing portfolio through the acquisition of 3Tera.

The acquisition is part of CA's wider plans to position itself as a major cloud player.

As a result of the deal, CA will gain access to 3Tera’s AppLogic cloud computing platform, a solution aimed at customers interested in deploying public and private clouds.

Chris O’Malley, executive vice president of CA’s cloud products and solutions division, said: “3Tera technology is a powerful addition to the total solution CA provides for optimising these high-value supply chains—from the mainframe to the cloud.”

Barry Lynn, chief executive of 3Tera, said: “As part of CA, we can bring rapid and simple cloud enablement to a dramatically larger group of customers, leveraging the thousands of CA sales, services and support professionals.”

The latest acquisition comes hot on the heels of the CA's recent buy outs of Cassatt, NetQoS and Oblicore.
