Channel Dynamics moves offices

Distributor grows its warehouse space by 300 per cent

Distributor Channel Dynamics has moved to new premises, growing its warehouse space by 300 per cent.

The firm has moved within the same trading estate in Slough and sells mostly Apple and iPod products. It has also recently signed agreements with vendors LaCie, SDI Technologies and TL Audio.

Mark Wood, chief technology officer at Channel Dynamics, said: “The additional space is for our existing and future growth. We’re still seeing strong demand in the iPod accessories market and we are planning for further growth into the Mac and PC arena.

“We are looking to get more into the solutions-orientated space with technologies such as network storage, storage infrastructure and network infrastructure, which is a move back to our B2B [business-to-business] roots. We are lucky to come from a Mac background, so we were right on the wave with the iPod accessories market. But as with all booming markets, saturation will occur, hence the move back into the B2B sector.”

Wood said that the distributor is on a recruitment drive to help it achieve its growth targets. “We’re looking at corporate firms such as SCC and Computacenter,” he added. “As Apple looks to grow in the enterprise market, we are also looking for VARs in that sector.”

Ben Konopinski, operations director at VAR Luxtech, said: “In the B2B market VARs will make money on Apple only if they can sell professional services around the hardware. Distributors need to sell support packages to VARs to boost their margins.”
