Taylor quits Cyrix to join Blue Micro pal at VCM
Roy Taylor has left his position as Cyrix European sales manager and teamed up with ex-Blue Micro colleague John Bern as joint MD of Northampton-based VCM.
Taylor left Blue Micro in early November to head the Cyrix sales drive in Europe (PC Dealer, 8 November), but said he had joined VCM because it promised good opportunities.
His decision to leave Cyrix was amicable, he said. 'The opportunity here was a very good one. When we first set up Blue Micro, we had a hard time with people buying from reps, as the UK wanted to buy from distributors. We changed that.' Now, claimed Taylor, VCM is on the verge of signing deals with international but unspecified memory products which would grow VCM. 'There are lots of manufacturers coming on stream and there's plenty of opportunity for us.
'If you generally add value and make it easier for customers rather than get in the way, your rep can become very successful,' he said.
J Nav Sheera, who headed up Nextron in Europe, but was made redundant when AMD completed its acquisition of Nexgen, has joined Samsung Electronics.
In a further move software accountancy firm Quality Software Products said that co-founder Alan Mordain was made chief executive of the company. He will be replaced as chairman by non-executive director Alan Bejanmin.
Mordain said that his first task as chief executive will be to 'review QSP's senior management structure.'
