Security Partnerships to double tech headcount

Security VAR hunts for more consultants after posting rise in 2010 sales

Building sales: Security Partnerships says it has won several deals from larger rivals

VAR Security Partnerships has launched a staff recruitment drive as it seeks to double its technical headcount.

The security specialist says its focus on support has enabled it to wrest several deals from larger rivals and it wants to increase its senior consultant team from six to 12 by next July.

The VAR recently drew praise from rival MIS for its relatively high margins. For the year to 31 July 2010, the Reading-based Check Point Gold partner posted revenue of £7.85m, 40 per cent up on its 2008 tally.

Darron Anley, managing director at Security Partnerships, said: “Where we have been winning business off the larger guys, such as Integralis, Vistorm and 2e2, it has all been down to customer service and our focus on our support desk.”

As an example, Anley pointed to a three-year firewall support deal with logistics provider Unipart, which he said was won off Vistorm. “We proved to them we could deliver the support they required,” he said.

Security Partnerships counts Websense, RSA and Sourcefire among its other key vendors. Anley said the VAR is increasingly moving away from “putting in tin”.

“We are doing a lot with RSA enVision, which is more procedure and policy driven, rather than doing the nuts and bolts implementation work,” he explained.
