Seagate teams up with resellers
Seagate Software?s spate of acquisitions has led to the launch of a channel strategy designed to corner the market in enterprise technology.
The partner programme, Team Exec, will attempt to consolidate Seagate?s increased product range following a number of buyouts, which have taken place over the past three years. The acquisitions include Crystal, Palindrome and On-Demand Software.
Mark Reeves, European executive director of Seagate?s network storage and management group, said: ?We want the channel to make money from our products. All we ask is a level of focus to sell them.?
Reeves added: ?The programme will allow us to forge links with those resellers closest to the customers.?
Team Exec will focus on two areas with one tier for entry-level resellers that sell on an ad hoc basis to customer demand, and an upper tier for vertical resellers. The programme is free, but resellers must be proficient in Novell and Microsoft products.
Resellers entering the programme will be given training and support from a team of Seagate reseller account managers to sell and maintain client/server and enterprise network products, including Seagate Backup Exec for NT and Seagate Win Install.
Meanwhile, Seagate COO Steve Luczo has become chairman, and executive vice president Greg Kerfoot has assumed the additional role of chief strategic officer at the software company.
