Dell evolves partner plan

Dell's UK channel manager Andy Dow has admitted that the vendor's channel programme is an ongoing learning process.

The PC giant unveiled its first official channel programme in the UK last month and is still inviting partners to register their interest
Dow, who took over the UK channel manager role at Dell earlier this year after leaving his position of commercial director at Westcoast, said that the level of interest had been huge.
“We are very excited about the enthusiasm we are getting back from the channel,” said Dow. “However, this programme is evolving. You cannot just bring out a custom-built box and say this is the programme.
“The only way we can get it right is by speaking with partners regularly. This is definitely a great way to get in front of the channel.”
Dow said Dell would continue to evaluate partner entries and make the first announcements over certification later in the quarter.
He admitted there were still some trust issues, but said the vendor was prepared to earn partners’ trust.
“Partners will see the investment and breadth of resource we are putting into this programme and will see that it is a project that is here to stay,” Dow said.
