Vistorm scheme grants firms new lease of Life

Reseller unveils its IA Lifecycle appraisal scheme to protect firms from security threats

Security VAR Vistorm has launched an appraisal scheme to ensure its customers are protected against the ever-expanding number of threats to their sensitive business information.

The Information Assurance (IA) Lifecycle appraisal, allows Vistorm to build a profile of each customer, and assess their current position. It also makes suggestions to strengthen customers’ security strategy with the creation of an Information Assurance Dashboard. Vistorm then turns the dashboard into a real-time tool to help firms manage their security strategy on an ongoing basis.

Dan Turner, general manager of Vistorm, said: “There are many threats that are making major companies in the UK feel very uncomfortable about their current position. There are two types of loss a company suffers as a result of security breaches: those to the reputation and those that are financial. Both of these have a serious effect on business.

“When we deploy the IA Lifecycle, we engage with a company, align with their business issues and understand where they are trying to go.”

Turner added that Vistorm is seeing particular success with logistics companies. But it expects its service to have wider appeal, particularly in financial services markets.

Clive Longbottom, service director at analyst Quocirca, said: “Most companies don’t know enough about security to know their own needs,” he said. “The problem tends to be that they either go to a consultant that has a knowledge of the theory, but little practice other than advice, or a security integrator that will add lots of layers of security software on an existing environment.

“Vistorm could offer a managed service with all of the alerts and reporting that are required, and by using SLAs [service-level agreements].”
