Wick Hill revs up marketing spend

The distributor promises to help resellers if the market takes a turn for the worst

Ian Kilpatrick: Increasing market activity because of recession worries

Security distributor Wick Hill has pledged to help its resellers market their way out of the downturn if and when a technical recession takes hold.

Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill, said the security market had held up well in the third quarter, but conceded that tougher times may lie ahead.

“We are increasing our marketing activity on the basis that it appears that a recession will be announced.
“If you cut marketing when times are bad, you reap what you sow, so we will put more resources in to create end-user awareness,” he said.

Kilpatrick said Wick Hill hit year-on-year growth of 25 per cent in its fiscal second quarter to the end of September and is gunning for annual growth of 30 per cent.

He pinpointed unified threat management and endpoint security as two hotspots.

The distributor’s anti-virus business with Kaspersky also grew well, Kilpatrick added.
