Resellers benefit from Webroot rejig
Anti-spyware vendor Webroot has revamped its Channel Edge partner programme following its acquisition of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) security outfit Email Systems.
Taking a leaf out of Email Systems’ book, resellers will be split into three rather than two tiers: Associate, Authorised and Premium. Several sweeteners have been added, including special pricing for in-house SaaS security services and a wider range of free training.
Email Systems’ partners will automatically be re-allocated to the corresponding tier in the new set-up, while Webroot resellers will be allocated to the Associate or Premium tier, depending on what status they held previously.
Ian Moyse, UK channel director at Webroot, said: “If partners want to continue with either technology they do not need to do anything, and will get a few extra benefits too. However, if they can see the benefit of the combined organisation and begin offering perimeter or end point security we will welcome that.”
Moyse said Webroot is also embarking on a reseller recruitment drive, and hopes to poach partners from rival Postini, which was recently bought by search engine giant Google.
Christian Hughes, chief technical architect for security at Email Systems partner Repton, said the merger would allow it to offer the vendor’s SaaS to larger clients.
“Email Systems did not have facilities in the US and that had been a barrier, but with [Webroot’s] plans to open up new facilities that barrier will be lifted,” he said.
