E-touch hits security services arena

Reseller eyes £2m turnover in its first year of trading

Five former distribution heavyweights have set up a security reseller after “spotting a gap” in the existing market.

Newborn VAR e-touch technologies, which launches today, will focus on network security and related consultancy services.

Adam King, director at e-touch, told CRN that the firm was planning to swiftly ramp up its staff headcount and hit £2m turnover in its first year of trading.

“The security services offered by resellers today are either too complex or too costly,” he claimed. “All of us have a background in distribution so we can spot the gaps and will make security services easier to swallow.”

King refused to divulge e-touch’s full management line-up or vendor strategy, but the reseller’s web site lists Trend Micro, Websense and Juniper among the brands on offer. He added that e-touch would target the finance and insurance verticals.

Mark Hatton, managing director at distributor Sphinx, said: “The vast majority of our resellers operate a blended approach by combining products and services. They are doing very well from that, but if another entrant has a different slant then they could prosper.”

However, Scott Fletcher, chief executive at rival security reseller ANS, said: “There are plenty of VARs out there – such as us, Integralis and Vistorm – that do security services well. There is no need for another.”
