Samsung signs Osmosis as hardware drive gathers pace

Samsung Electronics UK is set to extend its output of hard disk drives, CD-Roms and notebooks and has signed Osmosis Technologies to bring more of these products to market.

The Korean vendor is also in negotiations with two further distributors, and is hoping to announce appointments by the end of the year.

Samsung intends to increase its run rate of 17,000 hard drives a month to 30,000 units by November, and its CD-Rom output from 10,000 to 30,000 units by early next year.

The push comes after various managerial changes within the UK company and at the helm of the conglomerate in Korea.

Ali Demin, Samsung marketing director, said: ?Osmosis is one of the partners we feel can help us achieve this.?

Osmosis will establish a 150-strong reseller network by the end of year, as well as a dedicated Samsung division in-house to address the extra output and provide product-specific training and marketing support for resellers. This is in addition to its existing 150 reseller channel for all other products.

Claire Howells, project manager at Osmosis responsible for the Samsung sign-up, said: ?We are a broadline distributor and we are hoping to be able to stock more ranges of Samsung stock in future.?
