Voice resellers called to sell AYC kit

VComm signs up VARs for IP telephony offering

Distributor VComm is signing up resellers to sell AYC Telecom's IP telephony kit, which was expected to ship last week.

AYC launched the kit at Comms Channel Expo early last year but production was hit by delays. "We are very excited about AYC's product," said Scott Dobson, managing director of VComm.

"We expect to see the first limited quantities this week, and a second drop in mid-February. We're recruiting resellers from the SME voice channel."

AYC is targeting the SME key system market with a small, cheap IP PBX that offers the same functionality as a key system, as well as extra applications.

The PBX was to have its own gateway for Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) traffic but is now expected to use third-party gateways. PSTN cards are due to ship in February, with Basic Rate Interface cards following in March.

Dobson said he is looking to recruit a further 25 resellers over the next eight weeks to add to the seven he has already signed up.

Phil Thorpe, a director at AYC reseller Acoustik, said: "We've been selling mostly key systems from Avaya and Siemens.

"AYC doesn't come from just an IP background. It has a mix of directors with a broad set of skills. It has the right market and is coming from both sides of the equation."

AYC also has distribution agreements with VoipStore, Spot, Kent Telephones, LanLink and VoIP-Products.
