FutureSoft scans for resellers

Security vendor to recruit new channel partners to push latest file surveillance software

Enterprise content security vendor FutureSoft is looking to recruit new channel partners, following the launch of its latest file surveillance software.

The firm recently launched DynaComm i:scan version 3.0, which it has claimed will offer VARs a new revenue stream.

According to FutureSoft, the software automatically sweeps a network and logs the presence of peer-to-peer or internet messenger software, hacking tools and offensive content. It can also track sensitive or proprietary information.

Andy Wooles, managing director of FutureSoft, said: "What we see with i:scan is opening up a new area of the market, because it is not an area that companies tend to focus on.

"Firms have been more preoccupied with external threats and web filtering software than monitoring what they already have on their systems."

John Taylor, director of security products at VAR Tolerant Systems, agreed that the product would generate extra revenue for new and existing channel partners.

"We believe i:scan will do well because the movement of data is becoming paramount in security. It is important to know what is on the system already," he said. "The product set is versatile so it can cater for SMEs as well as corporates."

Wooles added that the product would be ideal for resellers that have existing loyalties to other vendors but are looking to open up new revenue streams.

He said: "Everyone is looking for new business areas because the competition in the security market is tough." Wooles added that FutureSoft is always looking for new partners that can add value to the business.

"SMEs tend to prefer a local reseller, but the larger corporates with more in-house skills will be looking for a more specialist type of channel partner. That is why we are looking to take on partners of all sizes," he said.

Resellers are divided into three levels: Platinum, Gold and Silver. They will receive varying levels of sales and marketing support from FutureSoft, depending on the amount of business generated for the company, Wooles said.
