Steljes bids farewell to two more vendors

Distributor will focus on remaining vendors after parting with BenQ and Panasonic

Audiovisual (AV) distributor Steljes has parted company with BenQ and Panasonic, which now totals five vendors Steljes has ceased working with in recent weeks.

As reported by CRN, last month Sony split with Steljes following a review of its projector distributors. Prior to that the distributor parted company with Samsung and Vogels.

Royce Rye, marketing manager at BenQ UK, said: “BenQ and Steljes are parting company following a mutual agreement. In the UK, we continue to work in partnership with our projector distributors: Computer 2000 (C2000), Ingram Micro and Micro-Peripherals.”

Neil Colquhoun, European sales manager at Panasonic’s professional plasma business unit Europe, said: “The levels of business with Steljes for our plasmas has declined over the past three years and we have discussed this eventuality at length. While it’s regretful that a partnership of many years has ended there is no acrimony on either side.”

The reduction in the distributor’s vendors follows a company restructure earlier this year.

Darren Sainsbury, AV business manager at rival distributor C2000, said: “The real effect of the recent restructure at Steljes is now becoming more obvious. Its focus seems to have shifted back to the main interactive whiteboard brand [Smart]. It has expertise that may make Steljes’ remaining projector vendors question their strategy.”

In a statement to CRN, Steljes said: “Over recent months Steljes has met with its manufacturing partners and conducted a review of its portfolio as part of its overall company strategy. This review has led to a mutual agreement to cease trading with Samsung, Sony, BenQ, Panasonic and Vogels. Steljes remains committed to all its ongoing partner relationships.”
