Swyx reassures VARs over hosted IP launch
Vendor wants service providers to act as channel for new software offering
Swyx’s chief executive has claimed its VARs will not be left out in the cold when it launches a hosted version of its IP telephony software this summer.
Gunter Junk, who was in the UK to promote Swyx’s new technology, told CRN that the vendor was looking for service providers to act as a channel for the software offering, which is currently being tested in Germany and Austria.
But he said: “The traditional VAR and distribution channel could see hosting as a threat to their business model. We need to be mindful of that and let them also participate in the hosted opportunity.
“Large VARs and systems integrators are already thinking about acting as a local service provider – our technology will allow them to do that.”
Matthew Dibben, sales manager at Swyx VAR Luxtech, said: “The next natural step for us is to provide a hosted model, so it is an excellent business opportunity for resellers, not just for ISPs.”
