VIP bags Acer distribution rights

Distributor gains access to Acer's notebooks, systems and monitors

Acer has added components and peripherals specialist VIP Computer Centre to its distribution line-up.

VIP, which has an annual revenue of £163m, gains access to the Taiwanese vendor’s notebooks, systems and monitors through the deal.

The signing comes a day after Acer posted a 31 per cent year-on-year slide in net profits for the first three months of 2009. Revenues fell by seven per cent to $3.6bn (£2.4bn), mirroring the decline of the overall PC market in the first quarter.

Duncan McAuley, purchasing director at VIP, said: “We are pleased to make this announcement and look forward to building upon our relationship with Acer.

“It is a really positive step forward for VIP and highlights our dedication to delivering great products at great prices, from a world-renowned IT brand.”
