Distributor Ingram Micro has signed up five new software vendors to bolster its high-growth areas.
Darren Seward, newly appointed head of software at Ingram, said: “The vendors we have taken on address markets where we are experiencing high growth, which are mobility, storage and security.”
Seward was promoted from senior business manager of the software division to his new post.
“Having worked in the software division for several years, I’m in a good position to add value. My remit for this year is to continue building strong relationships with resellers and to look at new areas,” Seward said.
Under the terms of the distribution agreements, the product ranges from the new manufacturers will be available in most of Ingram’s 14 operations throughout Europe.
The new signings follow Ingram’s June Software Month campaign (CRN, 6 June), which aimed to provide resellers with incentives, special bundles and promotional items to help them generate sales.
“The new vendors we have signed will help our resellers with the solutions they are being asked to provide,” Seward said.
Gary Witts, managing director of Dalmon Witts Computer Systems, said: “The EasyBits software will help us to penetrate the education market, which has basically been dominated by vendor Research Machines.”
Jon Collins, principal analyst at Quocirca, said: “People don’t want exciting software, but the things that help them do their jobs. This is why Ingram is seeing high growth in mobility, security and storage.”
