Mentec set to rebrand recent acquisitions under one name
Irish VAR gearing up to rebrand UK acquisitions
Microsoft VAR Mentec International is to rebrand its UK acquisitions under the Mentec name and has not ruled out further purchases in the future.
The firm acquired Great Plains resellers Xdat Software in May last year and Sytation in December 2004.
Alex Peirce, UK sales director at Mentec, told CRN all the firms will now trade as Mentec International.
“During 2005 we made a number of key investments as part of our commitment to delivering the highest levels of service.
“The reason behind the decision was that Mentec in Ireland intends to be recognised as a player that provides additional services in the UK. This is something that we have been looking at since last year, and 2006 was the obvious time to start,” he said.
Peirce said the firm had asked for feedback from both its acquired firms’ sales and accounts teams before going ahead with the change.
“It also means a lot of our customers will be better off, and will have a wider range of services to choose from. So far we have had no negative feedback,” he said.
He added that the company is ‘open to growth’ in terms of acquisition, but declined to go into details.
Bob Tarzey, service director at Quocirca, said: “Because mergers can be so varied it really depends on the company as to whether it changes the name. If there is no value in maintaining brand names, it makes sense to bring everything into a single entity.”
