DTI launches WEEE Roadshow
Government aims to eliminate confusion over the European recycling directive with a series of free seminars
Channel players confused about their responsibilities under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive can attend free seminars being held later this month and throughout February by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
As reported by CRN last week, the WEEE directive was officially transposed into UK law on 2 January 2007 (CRN Online, 2 January). Producers now have until 15 March to join an approved producer compliance scheme but many resellers and distributors are unsure if they are classified as a producer under the regulations.
The free half-day seminars are aimed at companies affected by the WEEE directive and the DTI is keen for individuals from small and medium sized companies to attend.
There are 11 seminars in total, starting with the first one on 24 January in London and finishing on 21 February in Cardiff. Full details of the seminars and how to book a place can be found at: http://www.dti.gov.uk/files/file35965.pdf
