Microsoft subsidiary staff are on the move

Software giant Microsoft has started reshuffling its staff within its UK subsidiary as the firm begins to implement its management reorganisation.

The software giant revealed two weeks ago that it was creating the application developer customer unit (ADCU) as a third division to run alongside the organisation customer unit and enterprise customer unit. The aim is to encourage big developers to come on board, as well as to partner with dealers (PC Dealer, 23 April).

As part of the job changes, Gordon Smillie, former corporate customer unit manager at Microsoft, has been promoted to head the ADCU. Channel marketing manager David Smith, is expected to take over from Smillie.

Four group managers, who will report to Smillie as part of ADCU?s management structure, have still to be selected.

Smillie?s job will be to increase sales of SQL, Exchange and Microsoft development tools. He will take up the role on 1 June.

He claimed there would be much more investment in all of Microsoft?s sales units from the beginning of the company?s next financial year.

J Microsoft UK staff were summoned to attend a worldwide sales and marketing briefing in the US this week.
