Indirect boost at Siemens Nixdorf
Siemens Nixdorf will look to strengthen its indirect channel next year as it continues the switch from a direct to an indirect selling model.
The news came as the vendor launched a new PC aimed at the corporate market.
Siemens Nixdorf uses Ideal, Micro P, Tplc and Computacenter for UK distribution. It said it will need to recruit more distribution partners in 1997 to target the corporate user.
Dave Whittles, Siemens Nixdorf PC unit marketing manager, said the new PC is one of the last pieces in the jigsaw.
'We see this as the completion of our desktop range,' said Whittles.
'The next phase for us will be to help our channel - we have a direct salesforce whose job it is to pass leads on to our resellers.'
The Scenic Pro D5 PC comes with a 120MHz or 200MHz Pentium processor and has a starting price of #916.
The rush to set a standard for clustering has taken a fresh twist as Pyramid, Siemens Nixdorf and Tandem signed a deal to collaborate on technology for both Unix and Windows NT. Siemens, which owns Pyramid, will use Tandem's Servernet system area network in its Intel servers running Windows NT.
