Dodwell re-emerges at Sipera

Former Westcon manager to front vendor's European channel charge

Dodwell: My role will be to build Sipera's European channels through distribution

Channel veteran Bernie Dodwell is bouncing back into the channel to front communications security vendor Sipera’s European reseller push.

Dodwell was one of around 20 Westcon staff to leave the distributor in November as a result of a cost-cutting drive.

Sipera, which makes security solutions for real-time IP communications, signed a global agreement with Westcon in 2009 but the partnership has yet to be activated in the UK and Europe.

Dodwell will begin his role as Sipera’s first director of EMEA channels on 7 April, reporting to EMEA vice-president Paul German.

He said: “My role will be to build Sipera’s European channels through distribution. I am a poacher-turned-gamekeeper as Westcon will be my primary route to market.”

Dodwell claimed that Sipera is one of the few true convergence products that addresses the requirements of voice, data and security.

“I was preaching convergence at Westcon and now I will be practising it at Sipera,” he said.
