Tatham says goodbye to Simms

Managing director parts company with memory distributor due to difficult economic times

Alex Tatham has claimed his split with Simms was entirely amicable.

Tatham left the memory distributor last week after just 11 months as UK managing director. Andrew Henderson, managing director of the overall firm will take over the helm once more in the UK.

Speaking to CRN, Tatham said: "There are difficult times going on at the moment. Andrew has come in to run the business and is taking out the biggest costs that he can - unfortunately one of those includes me.

"I have loved my time at Simms and also the people and opportunities that existed there. We parted on very good terms."

Tatham said he was hoping to stay in the channel and is looking at a number of "possibilities".

In a statement, Simms said: "Alex’s contribution to Simms since he joined has been massive especially appointing new vendors, and Simms will miss his enthusiastic style of management.

"Andrew and Alex will work together to ensure there is an effective handover ensuring both vendors and customers are not adversely affected by this change.”
