Lower Q3 sales set back Data Translation

Media 100 spin-off Data Translation suffered increasing losses and falling sales during its third quarter to 31 August.

The video, data and imaging product developer has started trying to crack the emerging low-end of its market, but lost $942,000 in its third quarter ? more than last year?s loss of $714,000 for the period.

Data Translation?s sales for the quarter fell slightly from $5.1 million last year to $5.07 million this time.

Fred Molinari, president and chief executive officer of Data Translation, said that the company?s Broadway Beginner digital video product, launched in July, should boost sales.

In a submission to US financial authorities, the company said: ?Sales from the company?s data acquisition and imaging products were down from the previous year?s third quarter, mainly due to lower international sales.?
