HP sourcing helps Tplc grab Glaxo

Tplc has won a deal to supply Glaxo Wellcome with Hewlett Packard PCs and an email messaging system worth up to #35 million over the next three years.

The agreement replaces previous Glaxo deals with about 25 PC makers, including Compaq and AST. Existing desktops will be replaced with HP product at the rate of 3,000 to 4,000 PCs a year. The deal also involves an email messaging project using HP Net Servers LS and LC series.

Tplc replaced P&P in September last year. It won the Glaxo business on the back of an electronic ordering system.

Ian Miles, UK MD of HP, said: ?What has made this project such a success is the excellent relationship between our account managers, Tplc and Glaxo?s group infrastructure services department.?

The email project will see Microsoft Exchange and SMS NT infrastructure running on the HP Net Servers. Glaxo is believed to be the largest UK firm to choose Exchange over Lotus Notes.
