Director to bolster BlackSpider

Email security vendor BlackSpider Technology has appointed Ian Moyse as its new UK channel sales director to further boost its indirect strategy

Moyse joined BlackSpider from NetIQ, where he was EMEA channel manager. Before that Moyse was senior vice-president of Computer Associates’ EMEA channel.

“BlackSpider has a great proposition because we are 100 per cent channel focused and offer partners a recurring revenue stream with our managed service. We are planning to invest even more in the channel. We have a very clear USP and this appeals to resellers,” Moyse told CRN.

The vendor operates a single-tier programme that divides partners into three categories: Premier, Authorised and Registered. Moyse said the firm is keen to recruit VARs for all three levels, and is currently in negotiations with “a number of new partners”.

Other changes Moyse will oversee include growing BlackSpider’s direct touch team which passes qualified leads onto resellers, and also updating its partner portal with new ordering and pricing tools.

“A lot of new customers are swapping to our service from an existing solution – they are realising that their solutions are not that scaleable and have seen the need for a managed service,” he added.

Penny French, security business manager at VAR Vistorm, which won BlackSpider’s Corporate Partner of the Year 2004 accolade said: “The email security market is flying at the moment and we have seen our relationship with BlackSpider grow. Its managed service provides us with a real opportunity to distinguish ourselves from the competition.”
