Norwood Adam in server talks

Norwood Adam is in discussions with Acer to distribute its mid-range servers, according to a source close to the company. The firm already sells high-end servers from ALR and was in abortive talks with Olivetti earlier this year to distribute its mid-range products.

Last week, Norwood Adam lost its Tadpole franchise after the Cambridge company decided to withdraw from the Intel notebook market.

'It needs to extend its range of server products and Acer's products would not conflict with that.

'Acer is the second biggest OEM in the world and will give Norwood Adam the right kind of profile,' said a representative of a rival distributor who asked to remain anonymous.

Tony Weaver, managing director at Norwood Adam, said he was unable to comment on whether his company was talking to Acer.

Acer also would not comment at press time.
