FAST flies the FLAG
New group created to address the legal issues arising in the digital software space
The Federation Against Software Theft (FAST) has created a group to demystify the issues around digital software law, called FLAG Digital Group.
Consisting of a working group of members from law firms such as Beachcroft, DMH Stallard, Lovells, Palmer Biggs Legal and Wedlake Bell, FLAG aims to investigate and report on digital matters, and also be available for consultation. It will meet several times a year.
Julian Heathcote Hobbins, FAST general counsel, said: "The specialist legal knowledge that FLAG has built up on digital issues and copyright will be shared with the end user community to help manage these complex issues, bringing benefits to the software industry and businesses in the future.
“The digital group’s first task is to consider the new Digital Economy bill and specifically to decide whether there are material issues affecting the software industry with certain clauses,” Heathcote Hobbins added.
