Sony has high IP CCTV hopes

Vendor set to pioneer IP CCTV security offerings despite slow UK take-up

Sony has admitted it could be 18 months before UK organisations start adopting IP-centric surveillance systems.

Raj Pandya, senior manager of Sony’s AV Communications channel, told CRN: “The UK still hasn’t made the leap from analogue to IP-centric security and adoption has been slow compared with the rest of Europe.”

The vendor is hoping to recruit a handful of pioneering networking resellers to sell its IP CCTV products after upping its marketing and lead-generation activities with distribution partner Westcon.

“We could still be 18 months away from mainstream adoption; that’s why it’s the right time for Sony and Westcon to develop that marketplace,” added Pandya.
