Acer parts company with Northamber
Distributor's contract has not been renewed by notebook vendor
Acerhas revealed that it has not renewed its distribution contract with Northamber, which expired on the 31 January 2007.
Gianpiero Morbello, Acer's UK managing director, said: "We decided not to renew the contract when it expired. Northamber did not shift as much stock as we needed them to last year. Their results were poor."
A representative from Northamber told CRN: "We weren't really handling that much Acer stock anyway."
The removal of Northamber leaves Computer 2000, Enta, ETC, Ingram, Lynx, Micro-Peripherals, VIP Computers, and Westcoast as Acer's distributors.
Gianpiero said the vendor would not be replacing Northamber.
The move follows the termination of Acer's contract with distributor Midwich last year.
