Magirus division sale completed

Magirus finalises sale of enterprise infrastructure division to rival Avnet and sets sights on growth

Magirus has completed the disposal of its enterprise infrastructure division (EID) to Avnet, following approval from the European Commission.

The disposal, revealed in CRN earlier this year (CRN Online, 19 July) provides Magirus with extra resources to further its strategy to develop its distribution model to address rapidly growing high-value IT segments.

Fabian von Kuenheim, president and chief executive of Magirus, said: “The disposal of our HP and IBM business has freed us to focus management time and resources on new technology segments such as storage management, intelligent networks, open source, IT management, virtualisation and security systems and services – areas showing strong growth potential and where we can provide extra value by applying our consultative skills and technical expertise.”

“Today, the value of the most effective IT solutions is in the way businesses combine transformational technologies, with infrastructure, to make their businesses more efficient and competitive,” von Kuenheim added. “Our goal is to be the trusted partner of choice to assist partners to address these higher value opportunities. We plan to expand our capability with a strategy that will include strong organic growth and carefully selected acquisitions.”
