DSG may close French PC City stores

Retailer looks to curb losses in its French arm, citing promotional difficulties and competitive property market

Dixons Stores Group (DSG), owner of PC World Business, is considering closing its 11 French PC City stores, and is in “consultation process” to reorganise its French operation.

The statement issued from the firm said: “Promotional restrictions and the competitive property market make it increasingly difficult to achieve scale, in terms of store numbers, and brand awareness. Consequently, to eliminate significant on-going losses in PC City France, the consultation process includes consideration to close the 11 PC City stores and to focus the sale of computing products in France through the Group’s e-commerce division.”

The firm said the consultation process is likely to be completed by July this year.
