Glasgow NHS Trust has faith in Consilium

Scottish networking and integration VAR wins contract to deploy Content Management Server to more than 8,500 staff.

Scottish networking and integration VAR Consilium has won a contract with Greater Glasgow Primary Care NHS Trust (GGPCT) to deploy Microsoft's Content Management Server to more than 8,500 staff.

Consilium beat off stiff competition to win the contract, worth a six-figure sum. It is the largest Content Management Server deployment in Scotland, claimed project manager Carol McGovern.

"We are thrilled to have won this contract which will allow each user to update specific information and give everybody universal access to the system," she said.

Security features are to be built into the intranet to ensure that users can access only information relevant to their area of expertise, she added.

Consilium is hoping to get everything up and running by the first quarter of next year.

Richard Abrams, financial director of Consilium, said: "This project will radically improve the provision of health services to the general public. The solution will give quicker and easier access to important data, which will positively affect the huge number of people under the Trust's care."

Stephen Harris, IT contracts manager for GGPCT, said: "For such a large Trust, supporting change to work practices and patient care coupled with cost savings will make this investment crucial in the long term.

"We chose Consilium because of its public-sector track record and working methods. We know it will build an effective solution in line with our budgetary demands."

Earlier this year Consilium won a contract to implement an email and messaging system for Glasgow City Council's 6,500 employees (CRN, 22 April).
