RDC joins MAR scheme

Computacenter-owned re-marketing set up is first to sign up to Microsoft's scheme

Microsoft is urging UK resellers to embrace its latest scheme that allows firms to obtain cut-price operating systems on refurbished kit.

The software vendor has unveiled Computacenter-owned outfit RDC as the first UK member of its Commercial Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher (MAR) programme.

RDC is already in its Community MAR scheme, which lets charities and schools have Microsoft licences on refurbished PCs for $5 (£3).

Financial terms of the Commercial MAR scheme have not been disclosed, but programme manager Frances Fawcett estimated it could be 10 times larger than Community MAR which supplies more than 400,000 units a year globally.

“VARs can now obtain used PCs from RDC with the assurance they have a genuine licence,” she said.
