Samsung adds notebook heads
Former Dell and Targus men hired as UK push gathers steam
Samsung has highlighted the NC10 as a fast-growing product
Samsung has added two more heads to its UK notebook team after trebling shipments in the first quarter.
Daniel Hill, formerly of laptop accessory vendor Targus Group, joins as product manager while Kevan Jeffray has left Dell to take up the post of UK and Ireland marketing manager.
Both will report to Darren Matthews, Samsung's UK commercial director of notebooks.
Samsung has now increased its UK notebook headcount by six in the past six months and the South Korea-based vendor indicated it has not yet finished recruiting.
According to market watcher Gartner, Samsung grew UK PC shipments by 230 per cent year on year in the first quarter, while the overall market sank back by eight per cent.
Samsung said its netbooks, including the NC10, have been among the most successful product ranges.
Phil Brown, general manager of Samsung’s UK notebooks division, said: “The mini-notebook is one area of the sector which is defying the economic downturn to show major growth and, with the appointment of an even stronger team, I believe we can continue to capitalise on this trend.”
