AST?s Thiele to Join Symantec

AST has lost its southern regional sales manager Kevin Thiele, who is leaving the troubled PC manufacturer to join antivirus vendor Symantec.

Thiele left AST on 16 May and will take up his position at Symantec, believed to be corporate sales manager, after two weeks of gardening leave.

His responsibilities will be absorbed by Mark Hughes, AST northern regional sales manager, who becomes national sales manager.

Con Mallon, AST marketing director, said the parting was an amicable one. ?Naturally, I?m sad to see Kevin go, but he?s obviously decided it?s a good move for him. Symantec has been chasing Kevin for some time now and he sees it as being an excellent opportunity.?

Martin Clarke, sales and marketing director at notebook reseller Lapland UK, said Thiele would be missed by the channel. ?Kevin?s passing is very sad, he will be missed by us. He?s bound to do good work at Symantec and I hope to be working with him in his new role at some point.?
