Citrix claims product is Essential for SMEs
Thin-client software vendor Citrix has launched a new product aimed at exploiting the lucrative SME market.
The vendor claims its Citrix Access Essentials software, which is an SME version of its Presentation Server, will offer smaller businesses secure access and information management that has previously been unavailable.
David Austin, EMEA product manager at Citrix, said: “The SME market is important to Citrix. The product is not for the mass market, but it is open to all existing resellers.
“We expect a lot of smaller and Silver level resellers to be interested [in the technology], but also expect a response from larger resellers targeting the SME market.”
Austin was also confident of resellers being able to use Access Essential in relation to other Citrix products: “We have a whole series of online products that will assist Access Essential,” he said.
Phil King, sales manager at distributor ETC, said the product will open up the market.
“We have always dealt with smaller resellers, so we are well placed. Previously we could only deal with 10 to 15 per cent of resellers – this new product will potentially be accessible to 100 per cent of resellers,” he said.
“Nothing technically and none of the core functionalities have been lost. It also removes the technological barriers that smaller companies have found with Citrix products.”
