Northgate saves Telford and Wrekin Council millions

VAR helps council shave £3m from its overheads with document and records management service

Northgate's partership with Telford and Wrekin will help cut down on the council's paperwork

Public sector VAR Northgate Public Services has won a contract with Telford and Wrekin Council to supply a document and records management service.

The deal, which will help the council to join disparate data and cut down on paperwork, forms one of the initiatives introduced by the council in order to deliver its £3m businesses transformation and efficiency savings over 2008 and 2009.

Russell Osborne, managing director of citizen solutions at Northgate Public Services said: “Delivering efficient public services is crucial in these tough economic times.

“We are proud to be working alongside Telford and Wrekin Council to transform essential services for citizens across the region and make a real difference to local communities.”

Under the partnership agreement the service will organise wide remote access to all documents and records, join up processes for more efficient delivery of services and create a single corporate repository of information.

Adrian Lawrence, portfolio cabinet member for resources of Telford and Wrekin Council, said: “This new service will cut down bureaucracy, deliver greater efficiencies and save valuable officer time enabling them to focus on delivering safe and sustainable communities.

“We are confident that our partnership with Northgate will provide effective and efficient council services which meet the needs of today and the challenges of tomorrow. We are determined to improve our frontline services for citizens and further foster cultural change in the way in which the council is managed.”
