Streamdoor opens hosted contact centre service

Streamdoor, a company offering hosted IP contact centre services, has launched in the UK.

The company will offer hosted services on demand, allowing customers to lower their outlay on equipment, as well as avoid spending money on upgrading applications.

The company has also appointed Alan Barr as its managing director. He is responsible for partner sales and marketing. Barr was previously managing director of Genesys Communications in the UK and Eire.

Streamdoor has linked up with Cisco and signed Dimension Data as a reseller of its services.

Mike Cleugh, director of customer interactive solutions at Dimension Data, said: "The two biggest drivers for people with contact centres are improving customer satisfaction and reducing costs.

"This will also reduce costs. Five years ago, people were looking at building a call centre for between £15,000 and £20,000 per seat."

Jon Keattch, chairman of Streamdoor, said: "Cisco's contact centre technology has been sold for a number of years to large enterprises. If you are going to get network centric technology, you have to have it at the heart of your network.

"If you're too small, you have to connect to someone else's network. What we are doing is bringing Cisco IP routing technology as a service to that area of the market."

Tim Stone, voice marketing manager EMEA at Cisco, said: "[Using Streamdoor and Cisco], clients can up- or down-scale on a month-by-month basis.

"We have built adaptors for leading CRM vendors, such as Siebel Systems and Peoplesoft. We don't see the whole market moving to built or managed systems. There will be a mix of solutions."
